Old Spice Deep Sea is my top pick due to its refreshing scent and long-lasting odor prevention.
This deodorant offers a crisp ocean breeze aroma that stays effective for a full 24 hours. Even during my rush hour commute on a packed public transport, it keeps me dry and fresh.

1. Old Spice Deep Sea – Best Old Spice Deo Overall
- Oceanic, citrus, and light florals combine in this revitalizing deodorant.
- Smells good enough on its own to collect compliments – even without cologne.
Old Spice Deep Sea combines the gentle ocean breeze with soft citrus and floral notes for a fresh and energizing daily fragrance.
Most deodorants are a clean baseline for another fragrance, but Deep Sea has its own subtle scent that will pick up compliments by itself – like I’m wearing a cologne.
It makes me think of floating around on a lilo on a summer’s day at the beach – relaxing, but not without the sense that today is going to be a great day.
Deep Sea is pretty gender neutral – at least that’s what my girlfriend seems to think. I’ve caught her using it once or twice. This really isn’t a fragrance that’s going to be masculine on your behalf, but it will keep you smelling clean and serene.
It gets me through a full day at the office and keeps me dry on my commute home – even on a packed carriage at rush hour. Like other Old Spice fragrances, Deep Sea is aluminum-free and doesn’t irritate my skin
This is of my all-time favorite deodorants, and I’d recommend you either start here or with Old Spice Original if you’re new to the brand. Speaking of which…
2. Old Spice Original – Best Deo for Starters
- A great place to start for subtle Old Spice protection.
- All-day protection and aluminum-free.
Old Spice Original is an uncomplicated baseline that’s perfect for layering with a more adventurous cologne.
It’s a little more masculine than Deep Sea, but not aggressively so. There’s a smidge of earthiness with a little hint of spice that is versatile enough to use pretty much anytime.
This deodorant keeps me dry and sweat-free without leaving any unsightly stains on my t-shirts.
The application is smooth, and you can feel that Old Spice Original sticks around without clumping up. Zero skin irritation, too.
Everyone should try this deodorant at least once. Plenty of people I know end up sticking with it for decades.
3. Old Spice Swagger – The Old Spice Deodorant Women Like Most
- Full of zesty lime and fragrant cedarwood.
- Light enough to feel fresh, but with enough bite to keep the ladies interested.
I never knew that deodorant could actively attract women until I started using Swagger. It’s a masculine deodorant packed full of zesty lime and stiff cedarwood that is probably the most detectable fragrance on this list.
It’s certainly the most popular, at least – I get compliments when I’m running my errands with this one.
Swagger keeps me protected deep into the day. Even in hot weather, it just lasts and lasts and lasts.
I once wore it to the beach in 90 weather and that still couldn’t break it. You can’t ask for much more than that.
For some reason, Swagger costs a little more than the rest of the Old Spice range – but you make that back by not having to apply cologne every time you leave the house
And the Runners Up…
4. Sport – Best Deodorant for Exercise
If you’re a fitness guy looking for maximum protection during your workout, Old Spice Spot is the way to go.
For me, it’s been tough enough to withstand long runs and sparring sessions – literally anything I can throw at it. It stays impossibly fresh at the most improbable times.
Because Old Spice Sport is a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant, it’s not going to prevent you from sweating – which is a good thing for regulating body temperature during workouts. Antiperspirants clog your pores; deodorants just keep you smelling fresh.
And (surprise surprise) I experience zero irritation from this aluminum-free deodorant.
The deal on Amazon for this one is particularly good, especially if you buy a few at a time. As my go-to gym scent, I’m happy to stock up to get these sticks for basically half price.
5. Refresh – Best Old Spice Sport Alternative
Refresh is pretty similar to Sport, but a little more dialed back. This masculine, clean-smelling deodorant is very effective.
This is the deodorant my father used to use when I was growing up, and what piqued my interest in Old Spice in general. He always used to say that it lasts forever, and would keep his sticks for up to a year at a time.
I’d imagine the formula has changed slightly since then, but if his experience is anything to go by, it’s a first-class deodorant at a budget price.
I find that the actual fresh scent does decrease throughout the day, but the odor-preventing quality does not. So if you’re looking for subtle protection that is happy to fly under the radar, Refresh could be the pick for you.
6. Fiji – Best Tropical Old Spice Deodorant
This is another volcano-powered cologne from Old Spice with a scent similar to the freshness of Deep Sea – but with a tropical twist.
There’s definitely a glug of silky coconut milk in here, balanced nicely against a dash of lime zest. Resting on a base of green palm leaf, it’s a carefree effect that says “good times are here to stay”.
Like Swagger, this is the sort of scent that will get compliments as though you are wearing cologne, even if you’re just rocking the deodorant straight.
7. After Hours – Best Old Spice Deodorant for the Weekend
This scent combines leafy greens with some citrus zing for a scent that’s best for cutting loose on the weekend.
After Hours is a brighter, more attention-grabbing deodorant than the base fragrances like Classic, Sport, or Refresh. As the name suggests, it wouldn’t be my choice for the office when there are more neutral options available for you to layer with a nice cologne.
It lasts for ages, by the way. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and can tell it’s still working from yesterday, which is better than I can say for most regular deodorants.
Keep in mind that’s from a deodorant that’s not even technically an antiperspirant.
8. Oasis – Best Vanilla Old Spice Deodorant
- Best Price: Check Amazon Here
I love vanilla fragrances, and I’m relieved to say that Old Spice Oasis does not disappoint. It smells like natural vanilla, not the synthetic, scratchy imitation you sometimes find in cheaper deodorants.
It’s a touch more sophisticated than the other “freshy” deodorants on this list, with a gourmand aspect that you can’t really find elsewhere in the Old Spice range.
My girlfriend says it smells like one of her fancy candles. From her, I’ll take that all day long.
It reminds me a lot of a discontinued Old Spice deodorant, Old Spice Amber. It’s almost like they changed their mind, swapped the name, and brought it back.
I can only cross my fingers that Oasis doesn’t suffer a similar fate. I’ve got a couple of sticks in reserve just in case.
9. Wilderness With Lavender – Most Relaxing Old Spice Deodorant
Relaxation is the name of the game here. Wilderness with Lavender is the most calming Old Spice deodorant available – perfect for kicking it when you’re out for casual coffee on a Sunday.
Light woodsy accords mingle with soothing lavender to create a deodorant with a comforting scent bubble that lasts all day.
You’ll be walking around as though you’re lost in your own private forest, taking some time out of the hectic city grind.
As a pretty laid-back scent, I’d probably recommend it for more mature Gents in their thirties and beyond. It’s not an old man fragrance by any means, but it’s not going to suit party boys who are really looking for club-banger colognes.
10. Old Spice Volcano – Best Next Step from Old Spice Classic
This deodorant is made with actual volcanic charcoal, which adds an earthy dimension and is just pretty cool, to be honest.
It combines with bright citrus, warm amber, and powdery patchouli in a natural-smelling deodorant that is pleasant without being overwhelming.
I find it lasts all day without any issues, and I’d recommend it for anyone looking to graduate from Old Spice Original with something a bit different.
What You Should Know Before Buying Old Spice Deodorant
Are Old Spice Deodorant Containers Recyclable?
Yes, Old Spice deodorant containers are 100% recyclable. Once you’ve rinsed the container out, you can include it with your typical plastic recycling. It’s a great move from Old Spice when many companies still rely on outdated aerosol canisters that are difficult to dispose of responsibly.
Is Old Spice Deodorant Aluminium Free?
All Old Spice deodorants are aluminum-free, so if you have sensitive skin, using Old Spice will give you plenty of choices to rotate through.
Old Spice deodorants also avoid parabens, which can have an equally beneficial impact if you find that some deodorants clog your pores.
Does Old Spice Deodorant Stain Shirts?
Old Spice pitches their deodorants as “stain-free”, and that’s been my experience, too. I’ve tried plenty of colognes that end up leaving pretty gross-looking yellow stains, but I can wear Old Spice deodorants with white shirts without any problems.
Sweaters of the world – rejoice!
Can Old Spice Deodorant Expire?
Old Spice deodorant can expire, but it will take around a year – by which time, you should have long finished it.
Refer to the expiration date printed on the container, and keep an eye out for any changes in color or scent, or if the deodorant starts to dry up at all.
If you notice any of these things, it’s probably time to pick up a new stick.
For best results, I recommend keeping your deodorant sealed whenever it’s not in use, and buying a new stick at least once every 6 months.
What’s the Best Place to Buy Old Spice Deodorant Online?
It’s best to order through Amazon for quick shipping and competitive pricing. Just make sure you’re buying through reputable merchants with plenty of good reviews (all of the links included in this guide are from trustworthy sources, by the way).
They usually offer discounts on bulk purchases of 3, 6, or 12 packs of deodorants, which can reduce the cost of each individual stick by up to 50%.
Can I Wear Deodorant and Cologne Together?
You certainly can! However, it’s best to choose a relatively neutral deodorant to avoid projecting a cluttered scent.
Deodorant will help you not smell foul by preventing sweating in the underarm area, allowing your cologne to do its work, and making you smell better.
Steer clear of combing cologne with deodorants that have a strong scent of their own to avoid them clashing in a confusing palate.
