Burberry London is the perfect scent for fall and winter, with notes of leather, cinnamon, lavender, tobacco, and woods combined in this crowd-pleasing, slightly sweet scent.

It’s an impeccably balanced budget cologne, with enough woodsy notes underneath light sweetness to present a brand of distinguished, gentlemanly masculinity.

But the real selling point of Burberry London is the value for money. This is a budget cologne that smells like it costs 3 or 4 times as much.

What Does Burberry London Smell Like?

Burberry London reminds me of Christmas, bristling with pine needles and gentle cinnamon spice. There’s a touch of warmth from bright and sweet tobacco, too, that makes me think of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille.

In the dry down, clean lavender emerges to add a bit of freshness. It’s a powdery, sophisticated sense that implies maturity – it would really suit a Gent growing into his 40s gracefully.

London isn’t for the man who is “on his way” – he’s already arrived, and sat on the brown leather couches of the exclusive lounge in the city. Antiques litter the scene, while a single malt is held deftly in hand.

Basically, London smells like something that might cost $100, but the truth is you can get it for closer to $20 – $50. This is a really safe buy.

Elegant and complex, but still inherently comfortable, Burberry London is equally wearable for a casual stroll in the park as dressing to impress.

How Long Does Burberry London Last?

Burberry London does very well for a budget cologne, lasting for between 7 and 8 hours off just a few spritzes in the morning.

In terms of projection London’s stiffer, winter-oriented notes give it the necessary firepower to cut through cold weather. For the first 4 hours or so, you’ll be projecting an arms-length scent bubble that will pick up compliments.

Which is Better – Burberry Touch vs Burberry London

Both London and Touch have pretty focused note profiles – they’re uncluttered compositions, which is what you should look for in a budget cologne. Rather be good at one thing than messy and confused trying to reinvent the wheel.

I think the main factor in deciding which is right for you is probably seasonality. London is a Winter / Autumn fragrance to its core, with aromatic spice, warmth, and sweetness that would feel a little cloying in the summer heat.

Touch, on the other hand, is more versatile – if a little more conservative. It presents a fresher, cleaner brand of masculinity, and I’d recommend it as a dependable office pick throughout the year.

I also find London to be a little more mature than Burberry Touch. The notes are deeper and more traditionally masculine than in Touch, which is pretty gender-neutral beyond a dash of fresh cedar and musk. As such, I’d recommend London to older Gents who prefer more “alpha” scents but would probably tell them to give Touch a miss.

In terms of price, there’s really not much in it. It varies depending on the retailer, with either Touch or London being 10% cheaper – but it’s about 50-50.
