CK Eternity is all about nostalgia. This fragrance burst onto the scene in the late 80s and offered a fresher, sweeter florality in a sea of alpha masculine fougeres.
It still smells modern to this day, with a metrosexual appeal that implies confidence and class without forcing it down anyone’s throat.
This underrated gem ties together fresh citrus, soothing lavender, and a musky, rosewood base. It doesn’t smell like anything else in my collection, but that’s not to say it’s particularly out there – Eternity is a genuine crowdpleaser.
Eternity is that type of fragrance that makes me think of a crisp white shirt. Professional but without showiness, and classic without feeling dated.
It sort of flies under the radar these days as there’s not much marketing hype behind it compared to other Calvin Klein colognes, but it still has a cult following amongst Gents like myself – so let’s get into the full review.
What Does Calvin Klein Eternity Smell Like?
People overuse the term “old-school” whenever a cologne has been around for a while. I think Calvin Klein Eternity smells like it could easily have been formulated in the last 5 – 10 years.
Citrus and green notes combine with a soapy heart and masculine sandalwood base.
Sophisticated fragrance ideal for professionals who still want to show some personality.
The opening is pretty citrus-forward, followed after 15 minutes by a greener floral and herbal sense. Basil and sage combine in a way that feels fresh and masculine, helped along by some jasmine sweetness that smells incredibly natural. It lends Eternity this soapy, “just-out-the-shower” clean feeling that will leave you feeling fresh all day.
In the dry down, more masculine elements start to emerge, the most prevalent of which being the sweet warmth of sandalwood and resinous amber in the base. They lend a valuable streak of sexiness to an otherwise quite ethereal palate, and that sort of grounding is crucial in balancing out the fragrance.
Sophisticated, mature, and refined are the sort of words that spring to mind. It’s a great scent for office wear when you’re trying to remain professional but not at the expense of personality.
For the price, it’s very easy to see why Calvin Klein Eternity is so popular.
Top notes: | Lavender, Lemon, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange |
Middle notes: | Sage, Juniper Berries, Basil, Geranium, Coriander, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Lily |
Base notes: | Sandalwood, Vetiver, Musk, Brazilian Rosewood and Amber |
How Long Does Calvin Klein Eternity Last?
Calvin Klein Eternity doesn’t quite live up to the name, but it matches expectations for its price at about 5 – 6 hours of meaningful projection.
I’ll tend to give myself a few spritzes before I leave for work in the morning, and then top up on my lunch break with 1 or 2 more. It’s a great reset effect that will power me through until the end of the day.
If you’re looking for a bit more staying power, try spraying a little on your suit jacket for increased longevity.
In terms of projection, it’s not a shouty fragrance, but it’s still noticeable at arm’s length. It’s the perfect level for working close quarters, where you’ll still pick up the occasional compliment without filling the room.
How Much Does Calvin Klein Eternity Cost?
(All prices courtesy of FragranceX.com)
If you’ve got budget limitations, the cheapest Calvin Klein Eternity is the 1.7 oz for $34.92.
However, the cost per spray gets far cheaper the larger the bottle you buy, so it’s best to invest in the 6.7 oz if you want to save money in the long run.
Volume Oz | Calvin Klein Eternity Cost | Calvin Klein Eternity Cost per Oz |
---|---|---|
1.7 | $34.92 | $20.54 |
3.4 | $39.79 | $11.70 |
6.7 | $59.30 | $8.85 |

Is Calvin Klein Eternity Worth it?
This classy, citrusy, airy scent should be a staple in every man’s collection. It’s a timeless classic with good value performance, and I’d justify it as a “blind buy” purchase if you’re looking for a new office fragrance.
You can wear it pretty much all year round, apart from maybe really hot days when you’d be better served by something a little lighter. But the point is, it’s incredibly versatile, and I struggle to think of many situations where you’d say that Calvin Klein Eternity would feel completely out of place.
Sure, Eternity is not a masterpiece in the mold of a Creed Aventus or Tom Ford frag. But for the price, it’s something that smells like it should be 2 to 3 times as expensive as it actually is.
Where to Buy Calvin Klein Eternity Online
If you’re looking to buy colognes online, you need to make sure you use a reputable retailer.
There’s nothing worse than placing an order that feels a little too good to be true, only to receive a cologne that underwhelms because it’s obviously a knock-off. Or worse yet, doesn’t arrive at all.
