What Does Davidoff Cool Water Smell Like?
Cool Water is led by a dry, bitter sandalwood accord, mellowed by an aquatic sense of seafoam and citrus vitality.
It’s clean, laundry-detergent fresh, and brings to mind a pristine white t-shirt. Casual and proud.
There are touches of herbs from accords of lavender and rosemary. These kick out hits of earthiness once the bracing, cool opening has subsided. It becomes more grassy and green, with a fresh mint twist to spark the senses.
These pops of vitality help round the harsh sandalwood and keep Cool Water energetic rather than aggressive.
In the base, white musk oakmoss lends a chalky, powdery sense and offers a great contrast to the vitality of the heart. These deeper accords dull some of the shoutier notes and present that bold, bitter sandalwood thrust in the best light.

It carries well in the breeze, too. For the first half of the ride, I’ll pick up compliments from 3 or 4 feet away.
Cool Water mellows out towards the evening and becomes more of a skin scent, which I sort of like. It mirrors the arc of the day, rising and falling with the sun – and the transition to an intimate aroma is going to suit dinner and drinks with a special lady.

For the price, Davidoff Cool Water is definitely worth it. It’s a budget cologne that stacks up against fragrances 4 or 5 times the price, both in terms of scent and longevity.
That fact that it draws comparisons to Creed’s Green Irish Tweed (which is a luxury cologne) should tell you all you need to know – but more on that in a moment.

Cool Water bears a striking similarity to one of my favorite colognes of all time, Creed’s Green Irish Tweed. If we call Green Irish Tweed the “green” fragrance, Cool Water is its “blue’ counterpart.

There’s quite a lot of snobbishness in the community, where people seem to be willfully ignorant of how much of a ripoff of Cool Water Green Irish Tweed truly is.
Sure, Davidoff’s fragrance is a simpler composition, and you can smell there’s a little more harshness in the budget cologne. But for a fraction of the price, Cool Water is an amazing substitute.
