What Does Burberry Brit Smell Like?
If I had to describe Burberry Brit in 3 words, they would be: Woodsy, powdery, and rose.
The rose thread is floral sweet, rather than sickly sweet – an important distinction that sets it apart from most modern date fragrances that rely on gourmand sweetness to feel seductive.
The addition of greener notes in the dry down help to balance the florals, enforcing an outdoor, rose garden sense, rather than a straight bouquet of flowers.
In the heart, there’s a hint of spice from bright ginger, warm cardamom, and aromatic nutmeg.
It feels upbeat and fresh rather than heavy or “Christmassy” – almost like a modernized Old Spice.
In the base, stiffer cedar adds a necessary depth to keep Brit feeling masculine and mature.
Overall, there’s a bit of a throwback, retro barbershop feel. I’ve heard people make a comparison to baby powder – I get that, but for me, that powderiness morphs into a more mature tonka bean after the first 15 – 20 minutes.

How Long Does Burberry Brit Last?
Burberry Brit lasts for about 8 hours, which is enough to carry you through a full day in the city or cover you for an evening at the bar. I get his sort of performance from 3 – 4 sprays to my neck and wrists – which is very impressive for a cheaper Eau de Toilette.
The first 10 – 20 minutes are pretty strong, but after that projection descends into a subtler scent with a moderate/light projection of around 1 meter.
If you’re on a date, she’ll get a hint when she’s close to you, but you’re not going to blow her head off with obnoxious fragrance. It’s there to be discovered in intimate moments.

Burberry Brit is firmly in the budget cologne category, and you’ll struggle to find a truly seductive cologne with 8-hour longevity for less.
You can also pick up smaller bottles – but it works out significantly more expensive per spray. For the sake of an extra few dollars, you’d be better off taking the larger bottle.

When Burberry Brit was released in 2004, it won that year’s FiFi Award Men’s Fragrance of the Year – so for a budget cologne, it’s pretty top-tier.

To me, Burberry Brit sort of smells like a more grown-up Paco Rabanne 1 Million.
It has a similar rose/woodsy/tonka blend, but Brit loses the cinnamon and berry sweetness that can make 1 million feel a little immature at times.

If you hate cinnamon, you will 100% hate 1 million. But if you’re looking for something sweet and powerful and enough to appeal to girls and collect compliments, it’s a certified classic.
Where 1 Million wins in terms of projection. 1 Million was my go-to fragrance for the ladies at college, and it’s the sort of scent that can cut through the dancefloor of a busy bar. Burberry Brit is decidedly more subtle and intimate.
1 Million also lasts a smidgen longer with up to 10 hours of longevity, but Brit is no slouch in that department either, with 8 hours of scent.

Burberry Brit reminds me of a slightly milder version of Dolce and Gabbana The One.
It’s got a similar seductive sense, but The One goes a bit heavier on the spice with added pepper. It’s a warmer, pricklier heart that lends itself to darker evenings as the night draw in.

The One is excitement, intrigue, and satisfaction all wrapped together. One of my favorite date scents, for sure. At a coffee shop or pub, I’d pick Burberry Brit, but in a classy bar with a shirt, I’d turn to The One.
In the opening, there’s a dash of sour grapefruit, livened up by the fresh spice of ginger and cardamom. Once the fragrance settles, you’re into the warmer, richer elements of amber and tobacco.
Like Burberry Brit, The One is held together by subtle cedar in the base, which provides some necessary depth and masculinity.
Women just seem to love this Dolce and Gabanna fragrance. If you’re looking to impress on a first date, The One for Men could give you the boost you’re looking for.
