Best Dolce and Gabbana Colognes for Men

You probably associate Dolce and Gabbana with eye-catching clothing that breaks the mould.

Well, the best Dolce and Gabbana colognes are just as attention-grabbing.

Some of the best Dolce and Gabanna colognes, like Light Blue, have been around for over twenty years. Nevertheless, they still feel fresh and modern and have a loyal following.

The fact that these colognes have stood the test of time is all the evidence you need that they’re worth a second look.

They don’t have a huge range of fragrances, but it’s a case of quality over quantity.

It’s a refreshing change from other houses that throw everything they can at you. Some seem to hope they can compensate for a lack of attention to detail by overwhelming us with choices.

This week I’m going to be going through the 5 best Dolce and Gabbana colognes I’ve come across, and help you find the one that’s right for you!

7Gents Guide to the Best Dolce and Gabbana Colognes

The One for Men- Best Dolce and Gabbana Cologne for

The One for Men is one of the best date scents on the planet. It captures that feeling of the first kiss with somebody you’ve been admiring for a while.

The One for Men Dolce & Gabbana Cologne

It’s excitement, intrigue, and satisfaction- all wrapped together.

I call it “fall in a bottle”. This sweet and woody blend uses rich tobacco and amber and is perfect for providing warmth and masculinity during autumn.

Another suitable name is The Ankle Breaker. After all, that’s what will happen whenever a lady walks by you and has to do a 180.

This is a sexy, romantic fragrance that women seem to love to get close to. Every hug is followed by an involuntary “Oh God, you smell incredible!”.

In the opening, there’s a dash of sour grapefruit, livened up by the fresh spice of ginger and cardamom. Once the fragrance settles, you’re into the warmer, richer elements of amber and tobacco.

It’s held together by subtle cedar in the base, which provides The One for Men with the necessary bite and masculinity.

One thing worth mentioning- I found the longevity of The One for Men disappointing until I realized what was going on. Not all sprayers are created equal.

For example, my Chanel sprayers blast out like fire extinguishers, while my John Varvatos fragrances are a light spritz.

Dolce and Gabbana’s The One for Men falls firmly in the latter category. You’ll need to spray 5-6 times to get what you might consider a regular dose from other bottles.

Once I worked that out, I was perfectly pleased with the performance and longevity and didn’t have to worry about reapplying throughout the day.

This modern masterpiece is a case study in seduction. Whether you’re looking to impress on a first date or bring some new life to your relationship, The One for Men is only going to enhance what you’ve got going on.

Top Notes:Grapefruit, Coriander and Basil
Middle Notes:Ginger, Cardamom and Orange Blossom
Base Notes:Amber, Tobacco and Cedar

K- Best Dolce and Gabbana Cologne for

Picture a bright, green field covered with the light frost of a springtime morning. K is that, in a fragrance.

K Dolce & Gabbana Cologne

K is a fragrance fit for a King. It’s packed with nature and life, but elevated by rich fig and patchouli to smell decadent and luxurious.

This is the sort of fragrance you wear if you’re an energetic Gent who still wants to project status and confidence. It’s for the man who commands respect through maturity and his experience, rather than coarse domination.

It’s a fresh and fruity forest vibe, with a menthol-ish breeziness that replicates a cool wind. This is the backdrop for fig, lavender, and cardamom to combine and create creamy, juicy goodness.

K feels fresh and vivacious, with prominent vetiver that creates a unique clash with juniper berry.

The fig accord persists through the dry down, it sits on top of a warm and woodsy base of cedar and patchouli.

In employing these uncommon accords, Dolce and Gabbana have been able to deliver a cologne that feels bespoke and unique- with real signature fragrance potential.

Top Notes:Blood Orange, Juniper Berries, Lemon, Cardamom and Pimento
Middle Notes:Lavender, Fig Nectar, Clary Sage and Geranium
Base Notes:Cedar, Cypriol Oil, Vetiver and Patchouli

Pour Homme- Best Dolce and Gabbana Cologne for

Dolce and Gabbana pour Homme is an attention-grabbing and alluring cologne. It’s a clean, elegant blend for a seductive gentleman.

Pour Homme Dolce & Gabbana Cologne

This is for the Gent who represents refined masculinity rather than unmeasured aggression. It’s calming and confident.

I get countless people asking me what I’m wearing, especially if they catch me within the first few hours after application.

I can spray this without thinking if it will be suitable for any occasion. D&G pour Homme is a classic everyone should at least try once.

A well-balanced opening of citrus, lavender, and tobacco is very bright, and a little soapy.

After the citrus mellows, the tobacco becomes clearer and deepens in the base.

With the addition of rich tonka bean, the fragrance dries down into a powdery, woodsy delight.

Due to its freshness, it’s best used during the day, but there’s enough warmth and richness that it’s not a summer fragrance by any stretch. It’s that perfect middle ground for transitional seasons, ideal for a cold- but sunny- day.

The longevity is impressive. You’ll get 8 hours when applied to your skin.

I choose to use pour Homme as an outer jacket scent. The fabric retains the fragrance for at least 10-12 hours, and I get to feel dashing all day.

Top notes are Citruses, Bergamot, Neroli and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Lavender, Sage and Pepper; base notes are Tobacco, Tonka Bean and Cedar.

Intenso- Best Dolce and Gabbana Cologne for

This aromatic woody fragrance is full of rich, warm aromas. Intenso is a clean and fresh representation of a determined man, acting on instinct and emotion.

Intenso Dolce & Gabbana Cologne

Most male scents are safe, this isn’t. I’ll wear this everywhere except at work. This is what the boss wears when he’s at play.

I love this, and I’m in my mid-twenties, but Intenso would work right up to your late thirties.

If you’re looking for a dark fall/winter scent, you’ll find Intenso to be the best Dolce and Gabbana cologne for you.

The composition opens with fresh aquatic notes and green nuances of basil and lavender. Moepel wood from South Africa makes the heart with its luxurious floral, balsamic, and honey accents.

Tobacco is deepened with dry notes of hay absolute and bran. The tobacco in this is awesome. It’s pipe tobacco! I would have said cherry tobacco, but it could be honey I guess.

Not to say this is sweet- the florals and wood in this balance out.

This tobacco accord is the star player. It gives the fragrance a classic masculine edge; something quite uncommon nowadays.

The blend settles in at the one-hour mark as the tobacco dries down. The intensity and strength of the composition come from the base of labdanum, sandalwood, and cypress.

Having said that, keep in mind that the performance here is moderate. It almost survives a working day, but not quite.

I found projection to only be really strong for the first couple of hours, followed by another 4 or so of a skin scent.

Top Notes:Lavender, Water Notes and Basil
Middle Notes:Tobacco, Hay, Moepel Wood and Clary Sage
Base Notes:Sandalwood, Cypress, Musk and Amber

Light Blue- Best Dolce and Gabbana Cologne for

Light Blue is a hypnotic aquatic fragrance. It smells like a breezy day on the beach with an iced fruity drink at your side.

Light blue dolce and gabbana cologne

If you’re looking for something inoffensive and perfect for casual wear, Light Blue is a good bet.

This is a great option for the “freshie” category purposes, without smelling like a typical cliche shower gel scent.

It’s an excellent example of the 90s/00s sensibilities of classics like Ralph Lauren’s Polo sport or Chanel Allure Homme Sport

The entire ensemble is full of citrus zing and mild sharpness from the incense. It never gets overwhelming, screechy, or loud. It’s got the same zesty, topical aspect I love in Virgin Island Water by Creed, but at a fraction of the price.

With Light Blue think; clean and relaxed with downtime and terrace drinks on the agenda. What mojito is to cocktails, is what Light Blue is to fragrances.

In the opening, there’s a burst of lime, grapefruit, and mandarin orange, which settles within a few minutes and to make way for pepper and rosewood. Within a couple of hours, you’re into a base of musk and oakmoss.

By hour 4-5, the scent fades out and settles into a skin scent, which is typical of most of these light, citrus summer scents. So it’s no powerhouse.

P.S: If you are looking for a more powerful marine fragrance, I’d recommend Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme Atlantique

Top Notes:Grapefruit, Bergamot and Juniper Berries
Middle Notes:Rosemary, Pepper and Rosewood
Base Notes:Oakmoss, Incense and Musk
