Another excellent choice is Ombré Leather, ideal for those who appreciate a unisex scent with a bold character. This fragrance is perfect for individuals in tune with their feminine side. It’s long-lasting on the skin, with a minimum wear time of 12 hours, and even longer on clothes.

1. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum – Best Overall
Hazy golden tobacco and gourmand vanilla combine in this sophisticated blend.
Smells rich, a little like a premium cigar lounge. Quietly confident.
Exceptional 12-hour longevity.
- Ideal for winter or chilly days.
- A compliment magnet.
- The fragrance is all at once seductive, strong, and delicate.
- It reminds me a lot of Christmases past, at least from my childhood.
Full disclosure- I’m a little biased here. Vanilla and tobacco are two of my favorite accords, and this is a masterclass in producing a minimalist cologne. Tobacco Vanille lets the two primary accords shine on an uncluttered platform, rather than looking to reinvent the wheel.
The vanilla has pleasant sweet notes (but not sickly-sweet) and is a little smokey. The golden tobacco brings out warm and spicy key notes. It’s a match made in heaven, and I’d class Tobacco Vanille as a perfect perfume.
I acknowledge that this is one of those fragrances that might be more down my particular alley than others. The lack of a deep base accord like leather or a potent wood might leave some yearning for more explicit masculinity. There’s not much there in terms of heat or passion, either.
But for me, it’s enough. It smells rich, a little like a premium cigar lounge. This quiet masculinity is a great choice for a signature scent if you’re the “quietly confident” type. It’s a self-assured fragrance for a gent who doesn’t feel the need to throw his weight around to get respect.
Tobacco Vanille packs a punch. You’ll get 12 hours of meaningful projection, and for the first 4-5, you’re a delectable beacon of fragrance. I tend to go for a single spray after I dress. Followed by one post-lunch.

2. Tom Ford Ombré Leather Eau de Parfum – Best for Polished Gents
This deep and alluring fragrance exudes masculine sensuality.
A special introduction to high-end fragrance. A great place to start with the designer houses.
Best for evenings when you want to make an impression.
- A dreamy scent of butter-soft leather with hints of sensual flowers.
- The scent is incredibly on point; akin to a really beautiful, velvety black leather jacket.
Ombré leather is one of those fragrances that people try and fall in love with. It’s leather in its purest form, deep and dark. While some leather colognes can smell a little impure, Ombre leather is clean and premium. It’s more “new supercar” than “dirty biker”.
It’s an uncomplicated fragrance that uses touches of spice and vanilla to help it along. It’s guaranteed to rack up compliments at the bar, and clinical enough to wear to work too.
It feels like something James Bond might wear. A true cheat code for confidence.
It’s one of Tom Ford’s best winter colognes, and I can imagine attracting attention in the smoking area of a boutique bar or nightclub. That combination of broody leather livened up with a smidge of vanilla and cardamom is a must for dark, crisp nights.

3. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Eau de Parfum – Best for Making the Big Pitch in at Work
Clean and fresh vetiver with a touch of nutmeg and pepper spice in the dry down.
Smells professional and classy - CEO energy.
- A sophisticated scent with a hint of CEO.
- A subtle fragrance with a hint of intensity that lingers for several hours.
Grey Vetiver oozes professionalism. I wear it to every job interview, formal meeting- anything that requires clean and crisp confidence.
It’s a minimalist morning pick-me-up and is perfect with a made-to-measure suit. A clean-cut and refined Eau de Parfum, but not without power and status.
The top notes are a zesty, icy grapefruit that feels fresh and uplifting, coupled with aromatic herbs and pimento.
In the heart there’s the primary, slightly shower-gel inspired vetiver accord that feels mature yet energetic.
It’s old-school meets modern and is the best Tom Ford Cologne for a young executive.
There’s a hint of chili in the heart, but it’s faint. Just enough to keep things interesting. The spice gives Grey Vetiver a hint of danger and makes it a more masculine scent than other, cleaner vetivers on the market.
It’s not a spicy fragrance, but it has teeth.
You could wear this at work from your early 20s onwards. It’s unlikely to offend but has enough personality to feel unique and expressive.
The longevity is more than a match for a day at the office, clocking in at 8-9 hours in my experience. I get at least 7 hours, but sometimes it’s closer to 9.
The projection is soft, which is ideal for the workplace.

Top Notes: | Grapefruit, Orange and Sage |
Middle Notes: | Nutmeg, Pimento and Orris Root |
Base Notes: | Oakmoss, Vetiver, Amber and Woody Notes |
4. Tom Ford F*cking Fabulous Eau de Parfum – Best for an Extra Confidence Boost
As you might have guessed from the name, this is one of the most controversial Tom Ford colognes for men. It gets mixed reviews- and not just because of the expletives.
There’s nothing else like F*cking Fabulous out there. Some love it, some don’t get it. It’s Immediately recognizable and demands attention.
I call it “liquid arrogance”.
It’s led by bitter almond and sweet vanilla, combining in a warming and sophisticated scent with a dangerous leather streak. It’s a symphony, but the orchestra is dressed like Hell’s Angels.
The tonka bean in the heart permeates everything. I cannot overstate the creaminess. It’s seductive, sexy, and Avant-Garde. Leather and musk in the base bring the more decadent elements back down to earth with a thud.
It’s the best Tom Ford cologne to make an impression, but a bit “far out” for inexperienced noses. F*cking Fabulous is for the daring only; imposters need not apply.
On that note, this is an everyday Eau de Parfum. Treat it with respect and deploy on special occasions.
Longevity and projection are phenomenal, with the fragrance clinging to me overnight and into the next day.
P.S. The bottle is a thing of beauty. It’s like a handcrafted luxury chess piece.

---|---|
Top Notes: | Sage and Lavender |
Middle Notes: | Bitter Almond, Vanilla, and Orris |
Base Notes: | Tonka Bean, Leather, Cashmere and White Woods |
5. Tom Ford Noir Extreme Eau de Parfum – Best for a Sexy Sweet Tooth
This might be the definitive example of how to do gourmand right. Noir Extreme is velvety \ rich, and one of the best Tom Ford colognes for winter.
I’d be tempted to rebrand it as “Ice Cream in December”.
Noire Extreme features kulfi, a traditional Indian pistachio ice cream dessert. This synergies with spicy key notes of nutmeg and cardamom to form an exotic alliance. These hints of warmth make it a nice pick for colder weather.
The sweet openings could imply a unisex cologne, but it soon smooths into masculine creamy vanilla. There are floral key notes of jasmine and blossom in the heart, but it’s the gourmand element that steals the show for sure.
It’s a playful, sensual blend in the mold of F*cking Fabulous, but less abstract in its execution.
Noir Extreme is more suited for the gentleman who knows he enjoys dark, mysterious fragrances that border on gothic.
My girlfriend loves Noir Extreme on me, which is also a bonus.
The longevity is excellent, lasting all day with no difficulty. A word of warning though- it’s easy to overdo it. You won’t need more than 2-3 sprays.
Any more, and you might risk your co-workers suspecting you’re moonlighting at Häagen-Dazs.

Top Notes: | Saffron, Neroli, Cardamom and Nutmeg |
Middle Notes: | Kulfi, Floral Notes and Jasmine |
Base Notes: | Amber, Woody Notes and Vanilla |
6. Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum – Best for Date Night
Drake loves Tom Ford Tuscan Leather so much he dropped a song named after it. It’s easy to see why.
It’s a bulletproof, aggressive leather fragrance that exudes power and sex appeal. Rugged leather, enveloped by a hefty serving of rich saffron. A true style icon in its own right.
Amber and tart raspberry offers a fruity counterplay to the deeper notes. This sweet nest brings some fun and flair to an otherwise very serious fragrance
Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather is a cold-weather cologne, for sure, I tried wearing it in summer once and almost passed out. It’s that powerful.
Even in the cooler months, expect a 6ft bubble of projection wherever you go. It’s still noticeable on clothes the next day, and I’ve been told it was too strong at work before.
So for sensitive situations, you might want to steer clear.
If you’re looking for unabashed masculine flamboyance, look no further. It’s my go-to for date night ostentatious parties. Get the timing right and Tuscan Leather will help you leave a spectacular impression.

Middle Notes: | Jasmine and Olibanum |

7. Tom Ford for Men Eau de Toilette – Best for Newbies
If you’re new to Tom Ford fragrances, this might be the way to go. It’s a classy and confidence-boosting fragrance that’s ideal for those starting to explore Tom Ford fragrances.
It’s comparatively cheap, too, which makes it a great starting point.
First and foremost, Tom Ford for Men is packed full of ginger and bright citrus notes. It’s full of zing and life, bringing to mind lush foliage and burgeoning orchards.
It’s one of the best Tom Ford colognes for summer I’ve come across.
I usually find a citrus scent can lack masculinity, but a woody base of vetiver and cedar brings a nice slice of maturity.
It blends floral notes with earthy accords and results in a masculine combination that I haven’t met in another Eau de Parfum.
I’d call Tom Ford for Men a safe bet, neither dominating the room nor going unnoticed. It draws you in, rather than smacking you on the nose.
If you’re looking for a powerhouse, think again. Tom Ford for Men prioritizes elegance over arrogance, so might not be the best Tom Ford cologne if you’re looking for a signature fragrance.
It’s understated and borders on a skin scent after 4-5 hours.
Tom Ford EDT Spray for Men | Fragrance Notes |
---|---|
Top Notes: | Lemon Oil, Ginger, Citrus Fruits, Basil and Black Violet Leaf |
Middle Notes: | Tobacco Leaf, Chinese Pepper, Orange Blossom, Floral Notes |
Base Notes: | Oakmoss, Leather, Vetiver, Amber and Cedar |
8. Tom Ford Lost Cherry – Best Fruity Tom Ford Frag
For me, Lost Cherry is the best cherry-inspired fragrance I’ve come across. And I’ve been looking.
You may have found cherry colognes to be a little sickly sweet in the past, but it doesn’t have to be that. This is a classy representation that maintains Tom Ford’s reputation for subtlety and sophistication but not at the expense of excitement or intrigue.
The cherry here is juicy and leathery. It’s mature and nuanced, blending with rich, vanilla-tinged almonds in the opening to conjure something that smells inviting and elegant.
The primary accord ebbs and fades throughout the lifetime of the scent. If it started at 100% cherry, it’s probably at 20 toward the end of its 10-hour lifetime.
It’s gradually succeeded by progressively potent notes of liquorice and cloves, and the reveal of cedar and patchouli in the base.
Lost Cherry Unisex Eau de Parfum | Fragrance Notes |
---|---|
Top Notes: | Sour Cherry, Bitter Almond and Liquor |
Middle Notes: | Sour Cherry, Plum, Turkish Rose and Jasmine Sambac |
Base Notes: | Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Peru Balsam, Cinnamon, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Cloves, Cedar, Patchouli and Vetiver |
9. What Does Tom Ford Bitter Peach Smell Like?
Bitter Peach is a newer addition to my collection that lets me show off my summery side.
Bitter Peach Unisex Spray | Rating |
---|---|
Projection: | Moderate |
Longevity: | 8 Hours |
Value for Money: | 4/5 |
This bright blend of ripe and tart peach and citrus smells natural and realistic, with hints of greenery furthering the sense of a living, breathing orchard.
Delicate, exquisitely tempered florals combine with vanilla in the top notes to bring a gourmand quality that will make you smell positively edible.
In the dry down, there’s a boozy streak that reminds me of cognac and rum that gives Bitter Peach a bit of an edge, and carries a cozy, alcohol-warming effect.
If you’ve tried Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, Bitter Peach is a pretty similar execution once you swap out the primary eponymous notes. Fruity sweetness on top, with enough seriousness in the base to keep it from wandering off.
Bitter Peach Unisex EDP | Fragrance Notes |
---|---|
Top Notes: | Peach, Blood Orange and Cardamom |
Middle Notes: | Rum, Cognac and Jasmine |
Base Notes: | Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Cashmeran and Vetiver |
10. Tom Ford Oud Wood Eau de Parfum – Best for Confidence in the Workplace
Envelops you in warm sandalwood notes.
Tom Ford Oud Wood is an edgy but smooth cologne for the successful badass. Think Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man. It’s magnetic and boisterous, but not at the expense of authority.
The opening crackles with Sichuan pepper, the perfect foil for sweet vanilla and tonka bean. After an hour we’re into vivacious woody key notes of oud, rosewood, and sandalwood.
Vivacious cardamom and vetiver help liven up the woody base. It’s still an oud at its core, but these fresher elements prevent the fragrance from coming off as stuffy or old-fashioned.
Tom Ford Oud Wood reminds me of a gentleman’s high stakes poker game in a wooden cabin man-cave, fire roaring and chips falling.
The bite of tobacco oud combines with the vanilla accord to conjure an opulent and classy cologne. Despite these delicate touches, Tom Ford Oud Wood remains an unpretentious and masculine scent.
Having said that, Tom Ford Oud Wood is not exactly a projection monster. In my experience, it’s only potent for the first few hours. If you’re looking for something with greater staying power, you might prefer one of the “extreme” Tom Ford colognes.
Quick tip: If you want to make it last a little longer, the trick is to add a spritz to your hair along with your pulse points.
Oud Wood Eau de Parfum | Fragrance Notes |
---|---|
Top Notes: | Vanilla, Sichuan Pepper and Tonka Bean |
Middle Notes: | Amber, Vetiver, Tobacco and Cardamom |
Base Notes | Oud (Agarwood), Sandalwood and Rosewood |
