Boss Bottled Tonic starts out with citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon, and orange blossom. It’s a refreshing trio that is perfectly suited to summer. For me, it’s the best part of the whole ride.
After half an hour, that sense mellows to make room for a streak of energizing ginger middle notes and the iconic cinnamon/green apple Hugo Boss accord.
It’s faithful to the original Boss Bottled, but swaps out the deeper notes in the base for some summer brightness on the top. It’s just as well balanced, but it takes another route.
To my nose, Boss Bottled Tonic smells like a sweeter version of Yves Saint Laurent’s L’Homme, which is a compliment for sure.
Boss Bottled Tonic also lasts all day but doesn’t project very aggressively. People you’re standing next to will take notice, but this is not a fragrance that will dominate the space – which makes it a great choice to wear to the office on spring or summer days.

It’s a clean-smelling, masculine scent that truly does dish out a wave of icy cool perfect for cooling you off in the summer.
The mint persists throughout the lifetime of the fragrance, but after an hour it’s joined by bright orange and an earthier tea note.
There’s also a hint of vetiver in the base, but not very much. Just a green sense, rather than a blast of woodsiness.
The combination reminds me of fresh rain in the springtime, like a cool morning dew shifting gently over the brightness of new life.
Because it’s such a light scent you will need more than a spray or two, but I balance that against the fact that Iced EDT doesn’t cost much in the first place.
Performance is roughly what you’d expect from a lighter summer cologne at 5 – 6 hours. Whether or not that is acceptable is really going to come down to personal preference.
I really don’t mind reapplying fragrances when I get home from work for a little pick-me-up, but you do you.

With In Motion, you don’t just get a blast of orange the color suggests. It’s there as a sweetener, but I find that I am picking up on cinnamon, sandalwood, and musk more than anything else.
